During my styling session with her, we carefully set an intention for the day in what I wanted to achieve with my wardrobe. She helped me choose words I wanted to embody, how I wanted to feel in my clothes, and the types of places and events I’d need to be to dressing for. I feel like my entire view on my wardrobe and how I can piece things together expanded.

I have long admired Jess's personal style and have followed her evolution through her Instagram page. I have a curvy figure and have never met a pair of trousers that work for my body that I feel good in. Jess empowered me to invest in some trousers and get them tailored to help elevate my work wardrobe specifically. I ordered several pairs of trousers with her help in varying styles, cuts, colors and textures. After I got them tailored Jess came over for a full afternoon of styling. She put together outfits with such ease and confidence, we tried on several outfits and it felt like I was shopping my closet for the first time. I felt giddy with excitement and surprised how good I felt in my trousers! She also offered several ideas on how to transition my summer dresses into fall in such a fresh way that would have never occurred to me. I felt empowered and confident in trousers for the first time in my life.

Another time I reached out to Jess for styling help was when I was ready to travel again "after" Covid. I had a trip planned to the mountains in Tennessee and wanted some outfits that felt retro and campy. That day she sent several links for hats, scarves, cotton dresses, comfortable/chic tennis shoes. She made it so easy and stress free. I also appreciate her variety in price and brands!

Putting effort and intention into my wardrobe and style has lived on the bottom of my to do list for 2+ years. Every time I found time to explore new clothes or fashion, I’d always get overwhelmed and would continue to push off the exploration. When Jessica announced that she was taking clients when she was in NYC, I immediately inquired. I’ve followed her instagram for years, her monthly newsletter for the last year and I always enjoy her content. And based off what she’s published, I knew that I wanted to work with her.
For context, I have been in academia for the last 6 years. So when I graduated undergrad in 2015, I never grew out of my college clothes. I kept wearing what was comfortable because I was always going in a lab. But over the last few years, I’ve realized that I have no connection with my clothes and don’t feel proud of what I’m wearing. So I inquired for a ‘beginning of a wardrobe change’ consultation with Jessica.

It took one meeting in person where she asked me questions and went through my closet with me and after a week she had a whole page of notes, stores, and Pinterest boards for me. The mood board she created for me was more than I could’ve asked for. She was able to take in my personality, lifestyle, and interests and visually represent it in clothes and outfits. She was able to distill what I’ve been looking for/what I’ve been trying to reflect in on clothes in a few simple outfit combos and colors. She even gave me a list of basic items that I can start hunting for that will complement the clothes currently in my closet.

I had an incredible experience with Jessica and can’t wait to revamp my style and start feeling great in what I’m wearing. The process felt so organic with Jessica. She’s kind and intentional and makes you feel comfortable as if you are opening up to a close friend. But at the same time she was professional and had structure to her approach. I had trusted her from the beginning and the more I talked and worked with her, the easier it felt for me to lean in and be vulnerable about who I am and why I’m doing this. I also want to note how patient she was with me with my lack of fashion vocabulary.

Highly recommend working with Jessica! After I jumpstart my new wardrobe makeover, I’ll find ways to continue to work with Jessica to help strengthen my connection with clothes and fashion.
